Meet Celine’s New Face Daniela Kocianova – Vogue
Every season, disciples of fashion have come to hold their breath for the release of Céline’s ads—a collection of heart-stoppingly cool images that instantly relay the best way to live, and look, in the year ahead. And the latest—a barefaced model swathed in a sheer pink dress, her blunt bob barely hitting her shoulders—did not disappoint. The subject in question is Prague-born Daniela Kocianova, who described opening and closing the house’s Spring 2017 show at the Tennis Club de Paris as “unreal.” “I didn’t even know that I was going to do the campaign, to be honest,” said the 26-year-old. “I was introduced to Juergen Teller [the campaign’s photographer] in the backstage area and was asked if I could stay after the show for a photo shoot.”
Though Céline has a history of tapping big names like Daria Werbowy and Joan Didion to appear in its campaigns, newcomer Kocianova seems a natural for the job. After all, her laissez-faire approach to beauty is right in line with Céline’s famously austere aesthetic. “I don’t really do much,” Kocianova confessed, citing Embryolisse cream, Tisserand Aromatherapy oil, and Nuxe lip balm (the only “makeup” she wears off-set) as the few products that constitute her small—albeit perfected—arsenal. Her ultimate beauty weapon, however, is one that gives even the best of concealers a run for their money: retro, oversize glasses. “I’m blind as a bat [without them]!” she says. Form following function—as any Céline girl would have it.
