JOURDAN DUNN is fast becoming known for her style off the catwalk as well as on – and with her own collection for MissGuided she’s working on her designer credentials too – so it’s no surprise that it has rubbed off on her littlest fan, seven-year-old son Riley. Dunn revealed that, while she might try and dress him in what she thinks is cool – and even created a childrenswear collection for Marks & Spencer with him in mind – Riley often has his own ideas about what he wants to wear.

“Oh yeah!” she laughed. “He has such an opinion on everything. Before it was so easy, I could just put him in that and he’d be cool with it, but now he’s got opinions like ‘Mummy, I don’t think those trainers go with that outfit,’ or ‘Can I wear this?’”

Becoming a mother at 19 – and shortly afterwards a single mother – meant that Dunn has had to learn fast what’s best for Riley, and has commended her own family over the years for their help and support. However cool she may be – and not many little boys have a 26-year-old Vogue cover girl for a mum – she still has to pick her battles when faced with a seven-year-old who really wants to wear a character T-shirt that she thinks is cheesy.

“Sometimes he wants to wear the most outrageous things, but I feel like I have to let him express himself and just do that,” she told Mini Vogue. “So, even though I’m gritting my teeth, he’ll be like ‘But mummy, you’re the one who bought it for me, why are you saying no?’ So I’m like, yeah, it’s true. I let him be him – to an extent.”
